Scottish Weather – Could Be Worse!
16 July 2015 – Queensland, Australia’s Sunshine State, and home to the Great Barrier Reef is generally known for warm weather, even in winter which falls from June to August.
In fact, it’s so known for its temperate climate, Queensland’s tourist trade revolves around outdoor activities and not just snorkelling or Scuba-diving. Queensland has five world heritage sites and offers such sun-soaked activities as whale-watching, fishing, boating and fossicking.
However, by Friday the 16th of July, there was a weather blunder in the land down under when eight centimetres of snow had fallen in the far south of Queensland. Meteorologists confirmed that this was the most significant snowfall in 30 years.
The snow laid long enough for the Aussies to enjoy some very rare snowball fights and sledging. But by the end of the weekend, the temperature had soared to 20°C again – fair dinkum Sunshine State weather!
